At our core, we want to inspire you to get outside and find the same appreciation for the backcountry we have. In 2001, Big Agnes started without a real plan, but with a mission: Make the best gear possible to help folks like you get outside and chase your dreams. Respected industry vets told us we were crazy, and the camping market was “too saturated”. Still, we were driven to make better gear and be apart of some really cool adventures, so we kept at it. Based in a ski town in northwestern Colorado, our backyard is an outdoor paradise with testing grounds right out our front door. The Continental Divide Trail is home to some of our favorite trails for skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. The Mount Zirkel Wilderness beckons us with its high alpine summits; its highest peak is the inspiration behind the company’s name. A stone’s throw from our office flows the Yampa River. Most lunch hours you’ll find an office quiet enough to hear a pin drop while we’re out finding fresh air or tracks testing the gear you’ll be using for your own adventures.

SSWSC is a non-profit 501(C) 3 organization providing sports and youth development programming for approximately 1,000 athletes every year. Our vision is to produce champions on and off the mountain. Our goal is to be the best in the country at developing the “complete” athlete – coaching every individual to achieve their highest level of human and athletic performance – resulting in healthy, contributing members of our community as well as skilled and passionate athletes. We believe that sports add character, confidence, and direction into a child’s life. Additionally, sports bring opportunity to excel, dream, and work toward the future. The overall impact for children goes well beyond the athletic results and extends into their personal growth and development. It’s no wonder that the kids of SSWSC have gone on to become Olympians, NCAA champions, collegiate scholars, CEO’s and leaders in their own right. Athletic training is offered in Alpine, Cross Country, Freestyle, Freeskiing, Nordic Combined, Special Jumping, Telemark, Snowboard Freestyle, and Alpine Snowboarding as well as Strength and Conditioning, Cycling, and Skateboarding. Serving tens of thousands of kids for more than a century, the club is one of the oldest and most successful winter sports clubs in North America. SSWSC has trained 95 Olympians, with 165 Winter Olympic appearances in 20 Winter Games representing 12 countries. These Olympians have brought home 16 medals! Currently there are 6 Olympians on staff. We have the best coaches in the nation right here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado!
