THE CENTERS FOR HABILITATION
THE CENTERS FOR HABILITATION
Tempe, Arizona
100-499 employees
Our mission: finding creative and innovative ways to provide hope and purpose for individuals with disabilities. TCH began in 1967 by parents of children with disabilities as an alternative to the institutions. The families had the foresight to see the value and possibilities of their loved ones living at home and being part of the community. Since the beginning we have provided services that give individuals with disabilities opportunities to gain skills, participate in the community, and live as independently as possible. We work with many types of disabilities that include Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and cognitive delays. Over 58% of our clients have mobility issues and utilize a wheelchair, walker, or other type of equipment to get around safely. Each individual faces different challenges every day. It may be; mobility- using a wheelchair, cane, walker or other support; communication - unable to speak, hear, using sign language, or limited ability to understand; limited range in motion- unable to or limited ability to reach for items, difficulty grasping, restricted hand/eye coordination, or challenges walking on uneven surfaces; and cognitive issues - need simple directions, unable to problem solve, difficulty processing information, or an inability to adapt in certain situations. Some of our clients rely on our staff to provide everything needed to survive each day. Without our support many of our clients would be isolated and unable to participate in life.
