Second Harvest Heartland is among the nation’s largest, most efficient hunger relief organizations. With more than 130 years as a non-profit agency serving children and families, Washburn Center vital community resource, serving nearly 3,300 Twin Cities’ children each year at its central Minneapolis location, home-based services in Dakota and Ramsey counties, satellite offices in Brooklyn Center and Edina, and school-based offices in Eden Prairie, Bloomington and Minneapolis. Washburn Center for Children strives to integrate innovative research into program practice, implement meaningful evaluation methods and provide effective training and consultation for agency staff and community collaborators. As a community mental health center, Washburn Center is a resource for all families, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Approximately 65% children served at Washburn Center come from families with low incomes. The Anoka County Community Action Program, Inc. (ACCAP) is an independent nonprofit agency, which began in 1965 under the Economic Opportunity Act. Every year, ACCAP serves thousands of residents in Anoka County, Minnesota through a wide range of programs. A volunteer Governing Board, made up of representatives of the public sector, private sector, and the low-income community, directs the activities of ACCAP. ACCAP is committed to helping disadvantaged individuals out of poverty and into the community as productive citizens. The agency offers educational opportunities, information and referral, and direct services, such as Head Start, Affordable Housing, and Child Care Resource & Referral. These programs and services help residents achieve their goal of self-sufficiency. The Community Action Program also works to educate the broader community and improve the general population’s attitude toward low-income and other disadvantaged persons. Anoka County residents can help their neighbors by volunteering at ACCAP in a variety of settings. ACCAP is funded by contracts with the federal government, the State of Minnesota, Anoka County local municipalities, foundations, the United Way, program fees, and donations. Private contributions remain in the community and are tax deductible.

Tubman is a multi-service agency with over 45 years of experience providing family crisis and support services, formed from the merger of Chrysalis, A Center for Women; Harriet Tubman Center; Family Violence Network; and ElderCare Rights Alliance. Our philosophy is rooted in our namesake and inspiration, Harriet Tubman. Facing unrelenting adversities, she advised others to simply, "Keep going..."​ Each year Tubman delivers accessible and effective services to about 17,000 people of all ages, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced relationship violence, trafficking, homelessness, mental and chemical health challenges, and other trauma. Built on a history of innovation, efficiency, and partnerships, Tubman offers countless ways to help. We provide safe shelter and housing, legal services, mental and chemical health counseling, youth programs, violence prevention, wrap-around services, and community education.

Tasks Unlimited provides supported employment, housing and mental health recovery services for people with serious and persistent mental illness so that they achieve a full life with the rights and responsibilities of adults. Tasks Unlimited bases its program on the Fairweather Lodge Model developed by Dr. George Fairweather in 1963. Based on the his research, people with serious mental illness who live and work together were less likely to return to the hospital and were more likely to stay in the community and continue to work.
