For 60 years, The Senior Source has been the go-to resource in the Dallas area for older adults and their loved ones to navigate aging. We give active older adults a sense of purpose through volunteering; we provide resources and support for family caregivers; we fiercely protect residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and we improve the financial security of all older adults through employment assistance, frauds, and scams education and money management.

The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a top-ranked nonprofit hunger-relief organization operating a state-of-the-art volunteer and distribution center in Plano— the Perot Family Campus. Last year, the Food Bank worked hard in partnership with member agencies from our Feeding Network to provide access to almost 77 million nutritious meals across a diverse 13-county service area— this means more than 200,000 meals per day for hungry children, seniors and families. But the need for hunger relief in North Texas is complex and in order to meet the need the NTFB is working to increase our food distribution efforts. The mission of Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC coordinates the investigation and prosecution of the most severe cases of child abuse in our community. Last year DCAC served over 7,300 children (and their non-offending family members) who were sexually abused, severely physically abused, or who had witnessed a violent crime. DCAC provides a warm, child-friendly environment to help children who are referred by law enforcement or CPS. Our average client is a 9-year-old girl, sexually abused by someone she knows and trusts.

A central clearinghouse for donated food and groceries, Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) receives fresh, frozen and nonperishable food donated by the food industry and the community. Dedicated volunteers help sort, inspect and repackage the food, which is then distributed to our network of 270 Partner Agencies serving hungry children, families and seniors in North Texas. The mission of the Autism Treatment Center is to assist people with autism and related disorders throughout their lives as they learn, play, work and live in the community. ATC is a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation providing its services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Family Place is a nonprofit agency that helps families hurt by domestic violence. All services are provided are provided free of charge, with exception of Supervised Child Visitation and the Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP). All services are also available in English and Spanish. What We Do: OUR MISSION The Family Place empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence. For victims of family violence, The Family Place is the Dallas area’s leading organization delivering proven programs that address emotional and physical abuse and incest. The Family Place provides free, comprehensive services that prevent violence and fully support women, children and men on their path from fear to safety. In 2013, we provided services to a total of 11,758 clients with 171,968 hours of service in Spanish and in English. When families are in our care, we work to meet all of their needs. At our Safe Campus, we feed more than 50 kids every day, providing meals and after-school snacks—that’s 18,250 after-school snacks a year! We go through more than 3,000 tubes of toothpaste and 3,600 bottles of shampoo each year.
