MISSION KIDS

Mission Kids achieves healing and justice for victims of child abuse by providing collaborative services, advocacy, leadership, and education. Mission Kids is a a Nationally Accredited Child Advocacy Center in Montgomery County, PA. The process is based on a multidisciplinary team approach. Police, case workers, and prosecutors all come to the child-friendly center where specially trained forensic interviewers ask age appropriate, non-leading questions of the child-victim while the team watches in real time. The trauma to the child is decreased as s/he only has to tell the story once. The professionals get the best interview possible while collaborating to enhance all investigations, and the child and family can immediately begin to heal. Mission Kids also provides family advocacy services to the children and their families as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system, and specialized referrals for medical and mental health services. Mission Kids has provided services to over 6,000 child victims of sexual and serious physical abuse, siblings of victims, and witnesses to violent crime since opening in 2009.
