Making New Jersey a Better Place for People and Wildlife since 1897. The New Jersey Audubon (NJA) is a privately supported, not-for profit, statewide membership organization. Founded in 1897, and is one of the oldest independent Audubon organizations. The New Jersey Audubon fosters environmental awareness and a conservation ethic among New Jersey's citizens; protects New Jersey's birds, mammals, other animals, and plants, especially endangered and threatened species; and promotes preservation of New Jersey's valuable natural habitats. In order to achieve its purpose, New Jersey Audubon, through its Board of Directors, professional staff, members, and volunteers, endeavors to: Develop, encourage, and support sound conservation practices, programs, and legislation. Disseminate information on the natural environment through education programs, information services, and publications. Advance knowledge of New Jersey's flora and fauna, and their relationships to the habitats on which they depend, through field research. Acquire, establish, and maintain wildlife sanctuaries and educational centers. New Jersey Audubon maintains stewardship of 34 sanctuaries and conducts its programs through ten staffed facilities. The objectives of the New Jersey Audubon are implemented by its professional staff under the leadership of its Executive Director and supervision of an elected, voluntary Board of Directors. In 2014, Pinebrook Family Services, Family Answers and THE PROGRAM for Women and Families joined services as Pinebrook Family Answers. We provide solutions for generations from infants to seniors. Our goal is to help all types of families become healthy and flourish by providing services and programs to overcome challenges and succeed in daily living. Our services include: • Behavioral Health Services which encompasses outpatient psychiatric and counseling services offered at three Lehigh Valley locations • Foster Care/Kinship Care/Placement Services • Adoption Services, Pinebrook is an affiliate of the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) • Other Community-Based Services such as: Making the Grade, a truancy-reduction, family-support program; Transportation and Family Visitation Program, a service that connects children in out-of-home placement with their biological/legal families; Shape, a family preservation program that utilizes case management; Compeer, a program that matches volunteer mentors with adults who live with a chronic, long-term mental illness; HOMECARE, a service that assists Seniors with the daily chores of living so that they are able to age in place longer; and Warmline, an anonymous phone service that provides callers a friend to talk to. • Forensic Services which include a Transitional Residence for homeless women and their children; ALPHA program, provides teens on probation with academic, behavioral, and job readiness services; and parenting classes for prisoners, support groups, and supervised visits. Last year, Pinebrook Family Answers assisted 4,909 children, young adults, families, and seniors. The agency’s community-based services specifically focus on assisting low-income families of diverse backgrounds, primarily residing in inner-city Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton and the Slate Belt area of Northampton County. All programs rely heavily on private support.
