For more than 40 years, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore has provided over 350 million meals to those in our community who face hunger. Through our programs, facilities, and large network of community partners, we “eliminate hunger” on a daily basis for many. However, we understand that our current work addresses hunger for individuals in the short term. It does not address the root causes which force individuals to return to a food pantry again and again. This understanding has led to the creation of a strategic plan aimed to move Hampton Roads closer to achieving the mission of eliminating hunger for those we serve—not only for the day, or for the week, but for a lifetime.

The Virginia Beach CDC is an award-winning nonprofit with nearly 30 years of experience providing quality affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate income families. The total assessed value of our properties exceeds $41 million, making us one of the largest property owners in Virginia Beach. Since the Virginia Beach CDC was established in 1985, we have housed over 6,200 individuals in safe, decent and affordable communities. We have also provided supportive services including case management and direct financial assistance to over 8,000 individuals who had experienced housing crises. Our ongoing efforts will bring housing stability to individuals and communities alike and serve as a crucial step in making communities whole.

The Obici Healthcare Foundation is a private, independent entity unrelated to any other health organization. Established in 2006 when the former Louise Obici Memorial Hospital was sold to Sentara Healthcare and coupled with assets of Mr. Obici’s first foundation, the assets of the Obici Healthcare Foundation are over $100 million. The Foundation is governed by an independent board composed of citizens living in Suffolk and in surrounding communities in the previous service area of the Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. It is the Foundation’s goal to continue on the philanthropic journey started by Amedeo Obici when he built a hospital to honor his wife’s memory and to serve the healthcare needs of the surrounding community. We’re incredibly proud of our nearly 30-year history in Hampton Roads. When we started in 1989, we focused on women and children living with HIV/AIDS. Over the years, as HIV has changed, our work has changed. Our organization has grown as well, and we’re ready to meet the diverse needs of our community. Today, LGBT Life Center’s commitment to a healthy Hampton Roads remains as strong as ever. In 1989, CANDII (Children’s AIDS Network) and Full Circle AIDS Hospice Support were two individual agencies working in Hampton Roads to better the community and help those affected by HIV/AIDS. Each did their part to serve their respective clients and educate the community. In 2006, a merger between Full Circle AIDS Hospice Support and CANDII formed AIDS Care Center for Education and Supportive Services. The two agencies came together with a common mission: to serve more individuals and families that are impacted by HIV/AIDS in Hampton Roads. At that time, the agency became ACCESS AIDS Care, uniting the two causes and bringing together two solid reputations to better serve our community. Five years later, ACCESS AIDS Care, together with The Elton John AIDS Foundation, Advocates for Youth, and many wonderful LGBT advocates, opened The LGBT Center of Hampton Roads in June 2011. In 2017, ACCESS AIDS Care and The LGBT Center of Hampton Roads expanded their mission and rebranded as the LGBT Life Center.

Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater, Inc. (CPC) is a not-for-profit organization serving women and families in multiple locations in South Hampton Roads. CPC has been serving women unprepared for pregnancy for more than 25 years, offering confidential services at no cost, including options counseling, pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, abortion recovery, sexual health information and parenting classes.
