RCIL is a civil rights organization offering a wide range of independent living and advocacy services for and — most importantly — with people with disabilities. The basic human right of participating in society as a self-determining individual must extend to all citizens. Each of us has the capacity — and responsibility — to be a proud, contributing member of our society. To support these goals, RCIL helps individuals of all ages and types of disability obtain the community supports and services they need to live independently. Whether this means getting an education, obtaining competitive employment, or living in one's own home, our programs are designed to provide a full spectrum of support and advocacy. RCIL staff also serves the community at large as expert consultants in the areas of barrier-free architectural design, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and disability-related policy issues. With more than 1400 employees providing service in 28 counties in Upstate New York, the Resource Center for Independent Living (RCIL) is the largest of 37 independent living centers (ILCs) in the state and one of over 400 nationally. We believe that disability should be seen as a human experience that makes each person unique -- something to be recognized and celebrated, rather than a reason to shun and segregate one another.

As a Care Coordination Organization (CCO), we connect those with intellectual and developmental disabilities to services, health care, the community, and more. LIFEPlan Care Managers work with service providers to best support individuals in their pursuit of living happy and healthy lives.

The House of the Good Shepherd was founded in 1872 in Utica, New York to help meet the needs of local children and families. Since then, The House has evolved with the changing child welfare system. We have grown into a comprehensive human service agency providing treatment to more than 600 children and their families a year. Our goal is to help children and families, who are struggling with serious emotional, social and behavioral problems, discover their ability to succeed. Children and families who arrive at The House often have exhausted every available option for remaining together. Our main location is on a 27-acre campus at 1550 Champlin Avenue in Utica, New York. The House currently employs 400 full- and part-time staff and has more than 200 volunteers and student interns. The House of the Good Shepherd is classified as a non-sectarian, non-profit corporation, and is designated as a 501(c)3 charitable institution. We provide services without regard to ethnicity, religion, or financial status.

In 1929, a group of concerned and dedicated citizens in Utica, N.Y. recognized a need in the community and rose to a noble challenge: to help people who were blind and visually impaired. Aspiring to a greater good, they founded the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI). Their mission then was to assist people who are blind or visually impaired to achieve their highest levels of independence. It remains so today. CABVI continues to operate as a not-for-profit agency that serves people who are blind or visually impaired, from newborns to the elderly, generally free of charge. We offer comprehensive vision rehabilitation, employment and technology services personally tailored to meet an individual's needs. Service area in Central New York: Oneida, Madison, Herkimer, Lewis, Jefferson, Fulton, Montgomery, and northern Otsego counties.

Mohawk Valley Community Action is the frontline resource for people living in poverty in Oneida and Herkimer Counties, providing direct services and support for education, employment, and family support services. Founded in 1890, the Rescue Mission of Utica is a faith-based, non-profit, multiple-service charitable organization which serves Utica and the Mohawk Valley. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the ministry "endeavors to assess and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all people coming for assistance." The Rescue Mission provides safe lodging, food, clothing, case management, counseling, advocacy, education, referrals and support services for individuals overcoming homelessness, abuse, additions and disabilities. We are a life-changing ministry that puts the love of Christ into action to those in need.

UNHS NeighborWorks® HomeOwnership Center strives to revitalize and grow neighborhoods through the creation and maintenance of safe communities providing places of opportunities for families to flourish through services such as: Home Buyer Education, Financial Coaching, Foreclosure Intervention, Financial Education, Home Ownership Counseling, Reverse Mortgage Counseling, Community Empowerment and Home Rehabilitation based on grant funding.

United Way of the Mohawk Valley is an independent, locally-governed United Way non-profit organization that has been serving the people of the Mohawk Valley since 1921. From running financials to running forklifts, it's hard to think of something I haven't done here, also including overseeing audits, board meetings, internal controls, bookkeeping,, hiring (and unfortunately at times, firing)  - even managing a fleet of freight trucks. And sometimes I just make a hot pot of coffee and listen to someone's problems. Compassion Coalition Inc. is an innovative, Upstate New York based Non-Proft specializing is supplying charitable organizations with a wide variety of products to better reach our neighbors in need. It's pioneering a new, hybrid/entrepreneurial model of self-sufficiency via a successful  grocery market model whose profits internally fund all operating expenses while also providing healthy food choices to the public at affordable prices.
