Building Tomorrow's Workforce through Training, Leadership, & Economic Development The Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council, Inc. (SW MN PIC) is a private, non-profit organization which provides employment and training services to residents and businesses across Southwestern Minnesota. With a highly qualified, professional staff and office locations in Montevideo, Marshall, and Worthington, the SW MN PIC provides job training, assessments, and various employment services to hundreds of residents and many businesses across our fourteen county workforce service area every year. The Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council, Inc. (SW MN PIC) is a private nonprofit corporation which was created October 1, 1983 and began operations in 1985 under the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) authorized by Congress to administer and operate job training programs in a 14 county area of Southwestern Minnesota. These counties include Big Stone, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, Swift, and Yellow Medicine. There are 16 Workforce Service Areas (WSAs) across Minnesota. SW MN PIC serves WSA #6 in the southwest corner of Minnesota.

VINE Faith in Action was established in February 1995, as an interfaith volunteer caregiving organization serving older adults, people with disabilities and individuals and families encountering difficult life situations. VINE is a network of faith congregations, organizations and individuals providing volunteer assistance in the Minnesota River Valley of South Central Minnesota. The VINE Adult Community Center offers a variety of fun and interesting activities to appeal to adults age 55+. Events include such things as book clubs, speakers, bus trips, celebrations, special dinners and social and recreational activities. In addition to the recreational and social activities provided, we offer a variety of different health and fitness classes. Our professional staff coordinates a variety of fitness programs to help people connect with friends and neighbors and enjoy physical, emotional and spiritual wellness throughout their later years. The VINE Home Thrift Store offers gently-used home furnishings at reasonable prices. Items that we sell include; household furniture of all kinds, electrical appliances, kitchen items, lamps & light fixtures, pictures & framed art, electronics, linens, knick knacks and a variety of other household items. All proceeds remain in the community and benefit the charitable work of VINE Faith in Action.

CADA provides safety and support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through community engagement, advocacy, shelter, supervised parenting time services, and therapeutic support. CADA coordinates services across eight counties in south central Minnesota to address domestic abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking through education about the violence manifested in societal norms and behaviors like teen dating violence, battering, rape, child abuse, sexual assault, and the trafficking of women and children. CADA began as a small grassroots group of women working out of their homes, raising funds and applying for grants that later led to opening our first shelter on Second Street in Mankato. The renovated shelter had its first occupant on August 3, 1981. This building served as the shelter until August 1, 1997, when CADA moved into its new facility on Stadium Court. The first CADA shelter served 1,751 battered women and 1,088 more battered women have stayed at the new shelter through September, 2006.
