Established in 1893, Children's Home Society of South Dakota is the oldest human services, nonprofit organization in the state. Through a merger in 1998, Children's Inn, a domestic violence shelter established in 1977, became a program of CHS. CHS provides emergency shelter, residential treatment and special education for children, forensic interviews and examinations for children, foster care and adoption services, and prevention services. In addition to serving victims of child abuse and domestic violence, CHS also partners with caring parents to help children with emotional or behavioral issues. Teachers are trained to support academic and behavioral/social/emotional issues that may arise to give children/adolescents the skills necessary to cope successfully beyond the classroom. Siouxland Family Community Center (Dakota City, NE) A Community Center program that provides an emergency food supply, interpretation services and a liason to other programs and agencies that provide services needed by those in crisis or high need for the family or individual. This leads them on the path to long term stability and successful living within their community. Services are priced at low cost in comparison to the market average for translation.

Opportunities Unlimited (OU) is a nationally accredited, non-profit organization rooted in the mission of “Maximizing Personal Potential Through Dignified and Purposeful Living."​ OU provides provides residential rehabilitation, nursing, and therapeutic services to individuals who have sustained a brain injury, spinal cord injury, and/or other physical disability. OU, through its Employment Services Department, provides support to individuals in a vocational setting through our certified job coaches. Upon completion of a comprehensive assessment, outcome goals are established and focus is placed on the individual and the programs and services to reach these identified goals.

Our partnership with Feeding America provides us with access to millions of pounds of food product that is donated by corporations all across America. It is through this affiliation that we are able to provide a wider variety of store shelf quality food to our organizations. Every single week, Feeding South Dakota assists in providing temporary food assistance to approximately 21,000 hungry individuals and families in our state and our BackPack Program gives food every weekend to nearly 5,500 kids who otherwise might go hungry. Your donations of money, food and time allow Feeding South Dakota to positively impact thousands of people every year. Real people.
