UCAN builds strong youth and families through compassionate healing, education, and empowerment. In 1869, UCAN was founded by members of St. Pauls United Church of Christ (UCC) to provide a home for orphaned children of Civil War soldiers. The UCC and its predecessors have long advocated for social justice, including the struggle for the abolition of slavery and being the first to ordain African-Americans, women, and openly gay persons as clergy. Diversity is a core UCAN value, reflected in our staff, our minority-led Board of Directors, and our clients. It is vitally important that UCAN counteract the influence of discrimination on our communities, families and youth.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, believes a healthy community starts with food. Empowering Community Independence The Chicago Lighthouse is the most comprehensive agency serving people who are blind, visually impaired, disabled and Veterans in the United States. Friend Family Health Center, Inc. (“Friend Family”) was started with the development of the Friend Family Foundation by Berman and Hannah Friend in the 1930s. Nearly 70 years later, Friend Family applied for and was designated as a federally qualified health center (FQHC) to continue to ensure access to quality care in medically underserved areas. Since then, we have opened several service sites to deliver effective care to our communities, regardless of patient income. Today, Friend Family Health Center’s delivery sites provide care services to over 30,000 patients on an annual basis. We are proud to be recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a designation that demonstrates our commitment to improving the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery. Although Friend Family has grown significantly, both in number of service delivery sites and patients, we remain true to our founding philosophy: to provide more medically underserved and low-income individuals and families access to high quality health services while alleviating disparities in health care outcomes.

Suburban Access provides individual service coordination and case management for individuals with intellectual disabilities in south and west suburban Cook County, Illinois. Programs include the adult DD program, Child and Family Connections Early Intervention, and Early Intervention monitoring.

As the Area Agency on Aging of suburban Cook County, Illinois, we advocate, plan, coordinate and fund services for older adults.
