In December of 1965, Cranston Community Action Program (CCAP) was incorporated as a Community Action Agency under the Economic Community Act and was charged to mobilize all resources toward the elimination of poverty and to provide participation of the poor and underserved in program decisions that affected them. Today, CCAP serves more than 20,000 Rhode Islanders with programs in Cranston, Warwick, Coventry, Providence, Pawtucket, Scituate, and Foster. Programs include: counseling services, health centers and dental care, food, housing and fuel assistance, weatherization, family support and services, Headstart, day care, emergency assistance, education, and job training.
