Is your business going through PUBERTY? If you’re like a lot of the business owners we work with, you might be feeling like you’re in an awkward growing stage where your business is starting to grow and you’re experiencing some growing pains. Maybe you’re starting to wonder if you have the right advisors around you working together as a coordinated team. Maybe you’re realizing you’ve outgrown your current CPA or other advisor who is giving you juvenile advice without being proactive or their recommendations simply no longer apply to your growing business. At K2 Business Group, we call this phase--BUSINESS PUBERTY! It’s that awkward phase in business where you’re moving from the innocence of a start-up to a creature full of hormones, pimples, and is beginning to sprout facial hair. At this point you’ve had a few good dates, made some money and you see a whole big wide world of possibilities spread out before you and the future looks bright—BUT you just don’t know how to move from Teen Magazine to the cover of GQ. Enter Your own personal BOARD OF DIRECTORS! Now look, the first thing to realize here is that traditional BUSINESS COACHING IS DEAD! Everyone is trying to pitch you on the latest and greatest high-ticket coaching, consulting, or course offer with that ONE THING to take you from ZERO to HERO and explode your business. We’ve all seen the ads right? The conventional business coaching model has become outdated, more costly, and less effective. Having your own board of directors can produce massively better results in growing your business, minimizing your taxes, and generating more income with less risk. In fact, in the first 14 days, the board of directors' approach will likely reduce your taxes and infuse your business with extra cash. It will also set you on the path to a self-sustaining business capable of operating with or without you. The “board of directors” approach will also ensure you get top dollar on the sale of your business.

In response to a drive-by shooting in 1997 that left two Harrison School District students dead and two others imprisoned, our co-founders, Dr. H. Dalton Connor, a periodontal surgeon, and attorney Steven U. Mullens began to design a program to empower students in southeastern Colorado Springs to reach their potential. Through a collaborative effort with Rick Price, the principal of Carmel Middle School, Peak Education was founded with the mission of preventing talent from being wasted. Initially conceived as a scholarship-based incentive program, over more than two decades Peak Education has evolved into a mentoring and college access organization that provides long-term engagement with students and families focused on four strategies for success: developing college and career readiness, building students’ capacity for leadership, fostering full family engagement in their students’ journeys, and creating broad-based community connections. Today, Peak Education is on the move building new partnerships with school districts around the city of Colorado Springs and beyond. We are working to increase access to mentoring and college counseling to ensure that more students are applying to well matched schools and equipped with knowledge about how to navigate the admission and financial aid application processes, as well as how to successfully transition to and through college.
