In addition, OlyFed employees dedicate hundreds of hours of their time and talents through volunteer service to many important and vital causes in our South Sound region. Olympia Federal Savings has maintained a 5-star “superior” rating from Bauer Financial. Only 1% of the nation’s banks have earned Bauer’s top rating for so long and with such consistency, making us one of the strongest banks in the South Sound. With 8 branches in Thurston and Mason counties to serve you; our professional, knowledgeable and compassionate bankers are just a short walk, bike ride or drive away. Lacey, Washington

Here’s the first question we always get: What does “O Bee” stand for? O Bee stands for “Olympia Beer.” As the name suggests, our first members worked at the Olympia Brewery. We got our start in 1955. Ted McGill, who worked in “Brewhouse A,” wanted to start a financial cooperative where the brewery workers could support each other. His idea took off. O Bee has been a cornerstone of the community ever since, open to anyone living in Washington State. O Bee is a Forbes-recognized Best-in-State credit union offering exceptional financial services. When you open an account with O Bee you become a member-owner of a not-for-profit credit union. This means our profits go back to you, in the form of better rates and fewer fees. With O Bee, your deposits are safe and sound, federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA). If you’ve never joined a credit union before, we think you’ll like us. We are proud to offer our members personal, friendly service, great rates and numerous financial products – all in the spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Rainier research scientists perfected the world’s first pulp made from hemlock designed especially for making rayon. These hard working people knew something about innovation and thrift. We carry those same values today. Our business philosophy is best described by our mission statement: “We listen, we serve, we educate, we care... always.” We are conscious of our roots, mindful of our responsibilities and energized by our potential to aid our members in an increasingly complex financial world. We are involved in our communities and, like you, appreciative of the dramatic beauty and riches of the Olympic Peninsula. OUR COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION
OUR COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION
Shelton, Washington

Charlie Savage, a union leader for the Simpson Logging Company, knew the loggers were being turned away from the local bank for loan requests to buy cars, household appliances, and other basic financial needs. The Simpson employees were in need of a banking alternative. After much discussion and consulting with the neighboring Rayonier Federal Credit Union, the newly formed Simpson Employees Federal Credit Union filed a charter and received approval on December 3, 1941. Since then, the credit union changed its name to Our Community Credit Union (OURCU) to better reflect the growing and diversified member's base. In 2010, OURCU expanded its field of membership to include all residents in the state of Washington. OURCU has remained true to its roots, providing personal, caring service while creating innovative and flexible financial products and services that are focused on helping members meet their financial goals through both traditional banking values and technology driven services. OURCU has approximately 540 million in assets, over 34,000 members, and operates eight branches throughout Mason, Grays Harbor, Thurston, and King Counties. Anyone living, working, or attending school in the state of Washington can join. OURCU is large enough to offer a wide variety of products and services yet has not lost its purpose to provide personal, caring service to their membership. OURCU has been helping build strong communities since 1941.
