The Winston-Salem Foundation is a community foundation that supports charitable programs in the greater Forsyth County area. Founded in 1919 with a $1,000 gift, it now administers 1,450 funds and had total custodial assets of $605 million at the end of 2017. In 2017, the Foundation granted $46.3 million to charitable causes, $2.9 million of which was through the Community Grants program. We offer personalized service to make giving easy, flexible and efficient; local expertise with knowledge of current community issues to make giving as effective as possible; and community leadership in bringing together diverse voices and groups to address issues, foster greater giving and support high-impact opportunities. The Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation supports organizations and networks in 11 Southern states that build power to advance racial equity.

Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project, Inc. (SERCAP) helps small rural towns and communities needing aid in upgrading their water and wastewater systems. We also provide training and technical assistance to rural residents for operation and maintenance of those systems, for capacity building and for economic development in their communities. Funding is made available to low-income individuals and communities in the form of grants and loans in order to rehabilitate housing, build water and wastewater infrastructure, assist in small business development, and to finance development projects of small rural governments. SERCAP utilizes volunteers in a variety of programs to conduct these projects, to train community leaders, and to train and recruit additional local volunteers. Created in the 1960s and with its central office in Roanoke, Virginia, SERCAP serves the seven states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. To date, SERCAP has brought clean water and wastewater facilities to more than 450,000 residents in our seven state network.

For 29 years, the Crosby Scholars Community Partnership has helped students in public middle and high schools in Forsyth County prepare academically, personally, and financially for college. Crosby Scholars serves 11,000 students annually and seeks to ensure each achieves their educational goals by providing admissions, financial aid, career and college exploration, advising, college campus visits, community service opportunities, cultural experiences, and over $980,000 annually in scholarships and Last Dollar Grants for college tuition. Crosby Scholars seeks to establish inclusive and equitable practices for all its members and draws on their varied strengths and perspectives.
