As Rhode Island’s one public television station, we are the stage for issues that are important to you and our community. As television, we amplify individual voices that might not otherwise be heard. As a non-profit, we bring a unique mission-driven perspective to everything we do. Add your voice, your power of One. Together, we are Rhode Island PBS and - together - we share the power of PBS with Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Thank you! Our place in the community is a unique one, as both a nonprofit organization and a television station. We use the power of noncommercial media to help build a stronger community by: - producing and presenting local independent content about issues our viewers tell us are important to them, - fostering community outreach and connection through civic engagement projects and public events. For you, this represents marketing opportunities that commercial broadcasters and cable networks cannot offer. As a WSBE content underwriter or event sponsor, you do more than buy a flight of spots. You become a partner with us in building a relationship with the community, and the community pays attention. In our 154 year history, one thing has always remained the same: we provide a safe space and structured programming for our city’s youth to play, grow, and learn. Today, 82% of our members live under the poverty line. To assure them a bright future, we work to break the cycle of poverty. That means addressing the structural issues that hold our kids back, including lack of access to educational programming, and lack of exposure to critical opportunities that develop their skills, talents, and passions. Our MISSION is to enable and inspire youth, especially those from diverse or difficult circumstances to: * Reach their full potential * Become productive, responsible, and healthy members of society * Develop into givers, and not takers * Make their community, State, and the world a better place for all Our VISION is to be an integral part of the solution to Rhode Island poverty through providing a path to education and jobs: * Exposure to post-secondary education and training * Assistance to secure education * Introduction to professions and jobs * A plan to realize individual vision beginning when a youth walks through our doors
