Our campuses represent smaller, nurturing environments that encourage self-discovery, leadership, ethical values, critical thinking, global intelligence, and civic engagement. While individually our campuses are smaller, collectively, MCA is the third largest university in the state. MCA campuses currently enroll more than 41,000 students, studying in virtually every field and discipline. As a group, MCA institutions lead the state in both four-year graduation rates and minority student enrollment. Over 70 percent of our students are Michigan residents, and the majority remains in Michigan after graduation. Focus of our Work The work of Michigan Colleges Alliance focuses on three areas: Marketing & Enrollment - building awareness among students and other stakeholders about educational options offered within the collective; Scholarship & Investment - enhancing affordability for students attending our campuses, and Talent & Corporate Relations - connecting students to fulfilling Michigan career opportunities, both during their education and after graduation.

In multiple, rigorous studies, EduGuide’s Peer Mentoring Community has improved schoolwide attendance, behavior, grades, test scores and college achievement by 10% or more, putting it in the top-tier of CASEL’s evidence-based engagement programs. Yet EduGuide’s system is so simple to run that schools have launched the program within days of signing up -- just by sharing a link with students. Additionally, EduGuide’s multi-layered PD helps teachers grow their own social emotional strengths to coach their students more effectively. Each week teachers ask students to do an online EduGuide reflective writing activity on their own for at least 15 minutes. Students watch a video or work through a scenario and set goals. They learn one new skill and then choose one other person they can help that week with the skill. EduGuide is a universal Tier 1 program that has also been used widely for targeted Tier 2 and 3 students with a range of special cognitive, social, emotional, and other needs. Activities are culturally responsive and trauma informed and include unique language learning tools for English language learners. Elementary, middle, and high schools in all 50 states have used EduGuide to improve student outcomes. That’s because EduGuide is built on 5 What Works Clearinghouse validated control group studies on interventions that have been shown to improve engagement, wellbeing, and equity.
