We improve the health of our communities by preserving and restoring natural areas and open space, protecting rivers and watersheds, and promoting stewardship of our environment. The support of more than 5,000 members and 500 volunteers helps us carry out our mission. We focus our work in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties where we have helped preserve more than 35,000 acres of open space, and we also go where we are needed in LaSalle, DeKalb and Grundy Counties.

The Great Books Foundation helps create a world of readers and thinkers of all ages. * We create reading and discussion programs for students and adults in the conviction that literacy and critical thinking help people of all ages become more knowledgeable, reflective, and engaged citizens. * We teach preK–12 students in Great Books programs how to think critically—sparking a passion for literature and ideas through the discussion of fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction. * We provide instruction for teachers, parents, and adult volunteers in Shared Inquiry™, a method of teaching and learning developed by Great Books that promotes close reading, careful questioning, active listening, and the respectful exchange of ideas. * We create partnerships with educational and community organizations to advance reading and discussion as a means for exploring shared concerns and common ground.

At Kids Around the World, our heartbeat is to share God’s transforming hope through FOOD, PLAY & STORY. We partner with others in order to empower future generations to live hope-filled, Christ-centered lives. This is accomplished through US based meal packing events that provide nutritious meals, building community centered playgrounds in impoverished areas and engaging kids in gospel driven StoryClubs. Responsible for the overseeing of operations and programs for Blackhawk Boys & Girls Club. With the primary concern for program development and implementation; staff development; supervision of assigned staff and program volunteers; facilities and budget management.

Riverwoods is a year-round camp and youth ministry program. 87 acre campground with multiple buildings. Maintained small tractor and vehicle fleet, managed waste water purification, assisted projects on 35,000 sf multi-purpose center. Led volunteer work teams from local businesses and churches.

CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile and Probate Court systems. Its existence is based on the belief that every child has the right to a safe and permanent home allowing them the chance to reach their full potential in life. CASA Kane County has been serving abused and neglected children since 1988. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are assigned as the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) to all child abuse and neglect cases in Juvenile Court as well as all private guardianship cases involving minors in Probate Court. CASA volunteers provide consistency to the children on their case, submit reports to the judge prior to all court hearings, and make certain that the child's best interests are represented. These volunteers are Everyday Heroes, people just like you who have chosen to speak up for a child. Help us make the difference in the life of a child.
