Navy Pier is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established in 2011 to maintain Chicago's historic Navy Pier and oversee the redevelopment of one of the most important civic landmarks in the United States and the top-visited leisure destination in the Midwest. Looking ahead to Navy Pier’s 100th anniversary in 2016, Navy Pier created The Centennial Vision, a framework for reimagining Navy Pier. Grounded in the noble principles of its founding designers, The Centennial Vision adds a visionary and contemporary lens for the future. Navy Pier's mission to be a world-class public place that celebrates and showcases the vitality of Chicago and provides for the enjoyment of Chicago-area residents and visitors year-round. NPI manages Navy Pier within a business framework that provides for its long-term financial stability. While looking forward to what is relevant for Chicagoans today, Navy Pier leadership is ever conscious of famed architect Daniel Burnham’s vision to transform the lakefront into attractive and useful public space for active recreation and social interaction – a source of pride and common ground that fosters a sense of community within the city’s diverse population. Chicago Children’s Museum is a place where families and caregivers with infants and children are encouraged to create, explore, and discover together through play. The museum features three vibrant floors of exhibits and activities that provide sensory experiences and engaging educational content focusing on literacy, science, math, visual and performing arts, and health.

The Chicago area boasts only one institution that focuses exclusively on providing interactive exhibits and programming for young children ages birth to 8. Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago has long been recognized nationally as a model for its integration of play and learning within a fun environment and one that encourages curiosity, creativity and self-discovery. After 20 years at its original home in Wilmette, the Museum opened a new, $18.1 million Silver-level LEED (Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design) facility in Glenview in October 2005. More than 330,000 children, their families, caregivers and educators visit the Museum’s 17 hands-on, interactive exhibits each year to direct their own play and learning experiences in a safe, intimate environment. All exhibits and programming align to the State of Illinois Learning Standards for children up to 3rd grade, and adhere to the principles of universal design, welcoming guests with any level of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional ability. The Museum also conducts numerous outreach activities, including its flagship Early Childhood Connections program, providing professional development for teachers and childcare providers along with free field trips for classrooms in low-income neighborhoods and children who are risk of academic failure. Everyone at Play, which opens the Museum exclusively for families with children with special needs, is a program offered several times during the year. National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA) is the leading Latino arts institution in the U.S. and is the first Latino museum accredited by the American Association of Museums. Our Museum is known for outstanding national work in the visual and performing arts and in arts education. In the course of our work, we have become a national leader and mentor for culturally grounded institutions and community-based organizations, as well as for our advocacy of “first voice” and cultural equity issues.
