Goodwill Gulf Coast operates in 7 AL counties and in 3 FL panhandle counties, providing critical services to vulnerable populations including employment assistance, educational skills and training, and supports for people living with a disability, poverty, and other barriers to a full life and successful independence. Our Mission Services team serves over 10,000 people on the Gulf Coast each year. In total, we employee over 500 people in Alabama and Florida. Lifelines Counseling Services (formerly Family Counseling Center of Mobile, inc.) is a comprehensive non-profit human services agency offering several programs in Southwest Alabama. Our programs touch the lives of our community through professional counseling, crisis intervention, and education and prevention services. At Lifelines, we CARE. Through Counseling, Assistance, Referrals and Education, it is our goal to provide Real Solutions for Real Problems that are experienced as a part of daily living. The Family Counseling Center offers a variety of programs to help people through a number of problems. Our innovative program for divorcing parents provides in-depth techniques for successfully moving their families through the transition of separation and divorce. Counseling helps individuals overcome marital discord, divorce, parent-child conflicts, death of a loved one, a family member suffering from chronic illness, domestic violence or drug and alcohol abuse. Consumer Credit Counseling Service provides consumers in Southwest Alabama with assistance in managing personal finances, both preventive - for those wanting to avoid serious financial problems and rehabilitative - for those who are experiencing financial problems: -Information and Referral -Budget Counseling -Credit/Debt Management Counseling and Education -Community Education -Bankruptcy Counseling and Education -Housing Counseling and Education The Rape Crisis Center serves victims of sexual assault and their families in Mobile, Clarke and Washington counties. Our services are provided on a 24 / 7 basis to victims at local hospitals and through our crisis line. The United Way 2-1-1 line offers resources for those in need. From emergency situations to the beginning of a long-term program, the HelpLine connects and directs you to the right channels to get you back on your feet.

The mission of the Child Advocacy Center is to "place the needs of the child first in an investigation for abuse" while working toward our vision to "end the abuse suffered by every child victim who walks through our door." Prior to 1995, the pain of child abuse didn’t end after the physical act. A verbal battery would follow as young victims had to endure numerous interviews with social, legal and law enforcement agencies. A child would be repeatedly asked to share the painful details of the abuse in an effort to learn exactly what happened. While well-intentioned, the exhausting process guaranteed further emotional trauma to the young victim. In 1995, a small group of concerned professionals and community leaders met to consider a better, more sensitive way to respond to children who had been abused. These individuals pictured a place where hurting children would feel safe talking about difficult, frightening experiences. Out of this concern, the Child Advocacy Center was established. I had the privilege to serve for six years as a board member for this incredible organization, including service on several committees such as Finance and Executive and as board chairman for the year 2015.
