The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation was founded in 1982, by philanthropist Bob Weinberg, to provide emergency financial assistance to California Highway Patrol employees and their families in times of crisis and to provide scholarships to their children. The CHP 11-99 Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization. The men and women of the California Highway Patrol dedicate themselves to protecting the citizens and motorists of California every day – even if it means laying down their lives. In the radio code used by CHP dispatchers and officers, “11-99” means “officer needs assistance”.
