Nielsen & Co. in 1908. In 1917, he moved to Harrisonburg from Leesburg. In 1924, Mr. Nielsen acquired the Harrisonburg building firm W.M. Bucher and Son, and renamed his company Nielsen Construction Company. The company was incorporated in 1951. Other significant milestones include becoming Nielsen Builders in 1996, opening an office in Charlottesville in 2003 and changing ownership to an ESOP in 2008. Employing over 80 people, the company generates more than one hundred million dollars of project revenue each year. The company offers a broad range of project delivery systems from program management, construction management, and general contracting to design-build, and consulting services. Clients include schools and universities, hospitals, and long term care facilities.
