Six of our health centers, Geneva Community Health, Penn Yan, Ovid, Port Byron, Newark, and Sodus Community Health, have been nationally recognized as Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Homes. We also administer a federal migrant voucher program, one of 22 in the country, to provide health services to farm workers in 42 upstate NY counties. Since 1887, the Rescue Mission has put love into action through shelter, food, clothing, and hope. Headquartered in Syracuse, NY, we are a 100% local and independent nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger and homelessness. We provide programming in Syracuse, Auburn, and Binghamton, NY. In Syracuse, the Rescue Mission is the only organization to serve three meals a day, 365 days a year to anyone in the community in need of a hot meal. We also operate a 183-bed emergency shelter for men and women. Permanent housing includes Crossroads, a 59-bed NYS licensed congregate care home, and 39 units of permanent supportive housing. All program participants are eligible to receive assistance and case management to transition to independent living, including: workforce development, spiritual care and counseling. Our Syracuse campus is also home to the Homeless Intervention Services (HIS) Team - the only full-time street outreach program - meeting with and assisting individuals experiencing street homelessness. Under development is an Emergency Youth Shelter, with an aim to open in late 2021. In Auburn, New York, we meet the needs of families and women experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We operate 28 units of permanent, supportive housing in Merriman Circle. Our staff is trained in trauma-informed care, and throughout the year, we provide support and enrichment activities for our children and families, including field trips, holiday parties, and summer camp. The Binghamton Rescue Mission provides a residence for men who have experienced homelessness or are referred by local agencies. Whitney Place houses a 21-bed dormitory on the first floor, along with 11 single-occupancy rooms with a shared kitchen on the upper level. Additionally, we provide supportive, permanent, affordable housing in a nearby single family home. Looking ahead, the Binghamton Rescue Mission is currently working to renovate a second property on Whitney Avenue to house formerly homeless women.
